Convert Flac to Aiff with the Best Audio Conversion Software

Convert FLAC to AIFF or FLAC to AIFF, what the?!! This is the common reaction of those who have no idea what these acronyms are. Standing alone, they can sound very technical, and even intimidating. They also tend to drive out any interest, especially for those who do not know that these terminologies mean. Little to these people know that said terms are actually something they use regularly, especially with the electronic devices that proliferate in the market which everybody seems to own.

FLAC is the acronym of Free Lossless Audio Codec. It is an audio file format that is similar to MP3 only lossless. A lossless file is one that has the audio compressed in FLAC without adverse effect on the quality. If you are more familiar with Zip, which you may have used one time or another to compress your computer files, they are very similar except that FLAC format allows for better compression since it is designed particularly for audio. To convert FLAC to AIFF or to any other formats, you will need to use an audio conversion software to allow you to do the work quite simply and fast.

If you intend to convert FLAC to AIFF, it would be best to first know what the latter stands for . AIFF is the acronym for Audio Interchange File Format. This is commonly used to transmit and store sampled sound. Since it is developed and patented by Apple Computers, Macintosh computers use this as their standard audio format. SGI or Silicon Graphics Incorporated also utilizes AIFF. AIFF formats tend to be large in size since it is an uncompressed type of audio file format. Another AIFF version that is designed precisely to support a more compressed format is the AIFF-Compressed or AIFF-C or AIFC. Both are Max OS standard formats.

To convert FLAC to AIFF, the first step is to find the audio conversion software for the specific file formats you wanted to work on. Once you found one, download and install in your computer. After installing, you should then launch the software. From the tool bar, click on the "Add" button. When you will see the standard file open dialog, select "FLAC – Free Lossless Audio Codec" in the combo box as its "Files of type". You could then search for the file you wanted to convert and click on the "Open" button. Your chosen file will then be included in the file list for conversion. To select the format you wanted to convert your file into, use the setting panel which is located at the bottom of the window. Click on the toggle located at the "Format" label's left in order to expand the panel. Click on "AIFF-Audio Interchanged File Format" as your "Audio Type". Conversion of files will now take place.

Be sure when you convert FLAC to AIFF that you have a DB-case decoder installed in your computer. Should you fail to add files for conversion, you should check if you indeed have the decoder in your PC.
